Home

Well here is really my last post. We arrived at home on wed. It was good to see everybody. Had to get the trailler ready to store and get truck serviced. Got computer straightened out. Cleaned garden up. We have tomatoes coming out of our ears. There are some of the best tomatoes that we have grown. Yelllow Jubilee's to purple , red ones with a little yellow in the inside. Had to fix a couple of sprinkler heads. My son isn't into how to do things like that. Other than that everything is going along just fine. So will sign off until we take off on another trip. Iam not sure where or when. Jim

Needles, CA

Left Holbrook and ended up here in Needles at the Desert View RF resort. What a nice place this is. Never new they had a place like this in Needles. It was 110 degrees here. The wind is blowing pretty darn good right now. The lady said it just started a while ago. Will leave here and go home. So this will be my last post. Thanks

Holbrook, AZ

Left Tucumcari and arrived here in Holbrook, AZ at a real nice KOA. Will leave in the morning to aim not sure where we will be staying tomorrow night and then on to the Ponderosa.

Satellite working great here. Dialed right in. I guess I wasn't holding mouth right at Tucumcari.

Will be heading to Kingman and spend the night after we leave here. Will get up early wed. morning and then head for home. It will give me a chance to straighten things up in the storage area below the trailer. That way I wont have as much to do at home. . Hope we supplied enough info on our trip. We had a super time and a lot of fun traveling with Jean and Larry. If it wasn't for them two , I would have been still running around trying to get out of the east coast.  Jim, Karol, Jean and Larry

Tucumcari

We stayed in Tucumcari last night. We had a short storm. The tornado warning was out  in our area, but all we got was some wind and rain. Left this morning.

Left Wichita this morning

We left Wichita at about 7 this morning and arrived in Tucumcari around 3. Will leave in the morning and keep heading towards home.

Couldn't get the Satellite to work, so am watching there cable here. After getting use to the dish, its hard to watch anything else, but we will survive. Karol cooked a nice and quick dinner for all of us. Texas hash with a nice salad.

Larry, Karol and Jean went up and got some ice cream, but I was too full to eat anymore. Thats all Ive done the last two months or so. LOL Will post more next time

Here in Wichita

Arrived in Wichita on Thursday. Will see my brother on Friday after he gets off of work. He invited all of us over for dinner. It was great to see him and Debbie and of course Chelsea. Brother Jeff grilled us up some super steaks. They were great.

We also had some Ice Cream and some rhubarb and strawberry pie after dinner.  I just had Ice Cream.

The next day Jeff, took us out to breakfast.  Chelsea and Jeff  came over to the RV park and visited as did Debbie after she got off of work.  That night we went to a cowboy dinner. What a good meal and the show was terrific. They did it the cowboy way , with a chuckwagon style dinner. We had brisket, potato salad, beans, corn bread. Then we had some apple cobbler with some ice cream on top. Camera's out in my truck so will have to post pictures later. Probably at home when we get there in a few days or so. Dint know if we will have WIFI anymore.

Around Branson

We got to the campsite about 1. It wasn't all that far from Fayetteville. Were about 10 miles out of Branson, so not that far to travel. Its only 12.00 a night and WIFI on top of that. I think this is the cheapest so far this trip. Will keep you posted with pictures and etc. Will probably only be here a couple of days and then on to Wichita to visit my brother and then on home from there.

Went out today in Branson and got some tickets. We got some two for one. Tomorrow we are going to see two shows. We are going to see the 50's show at 2 and then at 8 we will see the Branson's Bros. The next day at 8 we are going to see the I think you call them the Baldknockers or something like that. Will correct the name later. Tomorrow we will get some tickets for 2 o,clock on wed. So we are going to be busy watching shows. We will be leaving for Wichita on Thursday morning. Will post more later this week.

Well just got back from our shows today. Went to two excellent ones. The first one was a 50's at the Hop. It was so much fun. The other was the Branson Bros. They had comedian that was really funny. All of us laughed our rear end off.  Tomorrow we will see the Dutton Family and then at night we will see the Baldknockers. It should be a lot of fun. I have some pictures of today's shows. Will post soon as we can.

Here we are in in Fayetteville Arkansas

Here we are in Arkansas. We stayed in a KOA in Conway, AR last night. Rained all night so didn't sleep all that much. We then got up and made it into Fayetteville. Rained until the afternoon. We went and took a trip to Larry's uncles house, about 30 miles away. It was way back in the woods. Quite a place. Forgot to take pictures. It was a neat cozy place with trees and etc. Saw some deer back over in a meadows on the back side of the property. Leaving in the morning for Branson. First we are going to have breakfast with one of Larry's other cousin. So will report more later when we have WIFI

Off to Grand Ole Opry

We didn't do anything today, but hang out around the trailer. Will be heading to the Opry in about 20 minutes. Will post pictures when we get back tonight. Leaving tomorrow for Arkansas. We have about 700 miles of travel to get to Larry's uncles house. Will try to do it in two days. Will get some pictures in later. Tried, but they were to big for the blog. I have them just like the other ones , but these wont cooperate. Later. Still trying to upload pictures, but wont work right now.

Still in Millersville

We didn't do much today. Went driving around a bit, but ended up at Camping World and then over to a Super Walmart and got a few things.

Tonight we went and ate here in the Rv Park. It costs us 9 dollars a piece, but they had food brought in. Fried chicken, pulled pork, beans, cole slaw, macroroni salad, roll and tea. It was great. Also they had a country singer Phil Hill and his wife come in and do a little concert for the people here. He was great. His wife sang a couple of songs and they did a duet together. He had a lot of energy. Larry and I went together and got  their two CD"s. It was great fun. Tomorrow night we will be at the Grand Ole Opry. We are looking forward to that. Will report more tomorrow.

Millersville, TN

Well, here we are at Nashville. Actually we are at a campground in Millersville, National Country RV Park. Its about ten miles out of Nashville. It was about 99 degrees when we got here yesterday.  I think its going to get hotter the closer we get to the west coast. This morning we are going to get some tickets for the Grand Old Opry for friday night. Where we are staying they get a block of tickets, and we hope we can score 4 for Friday night.

We are going  sightseeing today. We could take a tour bus around, but they want 40 dollars to see one place and 70 dollars will get you two places of interest, so we decided that we weren't going to burn that much fuel driving around. That way we can go where we want. If went like it we can go on to another place.

We went in to Nashville and checked out the Museum right by the Grand Old Opry, which we will be going to Friday night. The museum was great. A bus will pick us up at the campground and take us in there. Larry and I went over and reserved our tickets at the campground office. Same price that you would pay there and they pick you up and bring you back.  I will post who we saw. They had a list of who we will see. Charlie Pride, Riders in the Sky etc. Hope to get some pictures. Didn't take a camera today.

We are all doing well. We haven't had hardly any problems with the rigs.. Having fun. Recommend it for everybody that likes to do this kind of traveling.

Off to West Virginia

We finally got to West Virginia to visit with my sister in law and her husband Dave and Susan and David.Rockie was down in Florida with her family on  vacation, so we missed her but did talk to her on the phone.

It was a lot of fun seeing David and Deanna and Susan and David. We got to go out and see Little Daves barn with his little apartment built in with the barn. I think he has 7 horses there that he takes care of. His dad does a lot of the work , as cutting and putting up hay and keeping the stalls cleaned.

We then went to Daves house , and he changed my oil for me. What a nice guy to do that. I guess he wanted it done right. LOL They wanted between 25 and 75 dollars to do it. I had to buy the oil and filter. Truck in good shape now.. We had about 7500 miles on the oil.

We took a boat ride over to a island that Dupont owns and went through a Mansion that they had rebuilt. I forgot the name.

The night before we went out to eat at the Texas Roadhouse. What a great restaurant that is.

The next night we  had a cookout for them  and had a great time. Left the next morning for Nashville.

Stayed in Kentucky and then went over to Dandrige, Tenn. I think thats how you spell the name, and we got to see and visit with one of Larry's friends that he worked with at Alpha Beta. Steve and his wife Sandy are great people. Left and went off to Nashville.

Aug 5th, 2008

Arlington and Mount Vernon

Well we drove up to Arlington National Cemetery and then off to Mount Washington. Arlington really impressed me. Saw JFK's grave sight and then off to the Unknown Soldier. The changing of the guard was quite impressive for sure. I have  a video of the changing, but dont have enough memory on this computer, to put it on the blog. Turned out really nice.

Aug 5th, 2008

Air Museum

Went to the Air and Space Museum, before we went off to DC. The blog is out of order a bit. After being on the road for a while with no WIFI, I forgot where we have been. LOL

Aug 5th, 2008

Washington, DC

We drove into Vienna and picked up the Metro and took it into D.C. We got off at the Smithsonian, and we checked out some of the buildings. The one that we really wanted to see was the American History one, but it was closed because they are refurbishing it. We did a lot of walking for sure. We went and saw the White House, but you can only get about a quarter of mile from it, because of all of the security they have. Ive never seen so many cops.

We then walked over and saw all of the Memorials from the wars. Quite impressive. The Korean one was the most impressive to me. The other were meaniful also though. Saw the Washington monument, Lincolns and etc. Then took a taxi over to the Capitol building. Couldn't go into it. They had it blocked off. Still more security.

Aug 5th, 2008

Warrington, Virginia

Well finally got WIFI here in Nashville. Iam behind for sure. We stayed at Jean's brothers house in Virginia. He has 10acres so Larry and I parked in the pasture. It was great. We had electric, and could get water with no problem. Drained  the grey water into the pasture.

Jul 23rd, 2008

Gettysburg.

Went to a Museum and saw a movie about the Civil War. Then took a car trip throught the battle fields.  It was raining so didn't really get out. There are a lot of Memorial Statues for the different General's and etc. Didn't take any pictures, because of the rain.

In the morning , we will be heading to Virginia to Jean's brother's house. We will then take day trips to Washington, DC and then around Virginia. It should be fun. We will be then sorta on our way back to the West Coast.

Jul 22nd, 2008

Lancaster County, Penn

Well we had another fine day. We ventured into Lancaster County. We went to the Town of "Two in the Bush" and then down the road a bit , was "Intercourse", Penn.

There were a ton of shops to shop in.

Karol and Jean had fun checking a lot of them out.

They didn't have time to go to all of them.

We went into a kitchen that had so many

things that they had canned. All the way

from Salsa to Apple Butter etc. They do it all right there. No imports from China. LOL

There must have been hundreds and hundreds of jars that they put up. We bought some Apple butter, some horseradish mustard and a few other things.

We were right in Amish country.

I guess they don't like their picture taken,

its suppose to be disrespectful,  but I got a good one of a young lady driving a buggy with some young ones in with her.

Jul 21st, 2008

Hershey, Penn. and Harrisburg, Penn. Boyds Bear Country

We took off this morning for Hershey. What a neat place that is. We went through a similated chocolet factory, and then we went on a trolley tour of where Milton lived and we got to see the real factory, from the outside. They had a actor on the trolley that went through and explained things in different costumes. Deana was the actual narrator and Andrew better know as "Wilbur" did his comedy stuff. It was a lot of fun. The tour was about a hr

We then went to downtown  ate. Its the capitol of Penn. To me it looked like a depressed area. The people were nice. We then stopped at Boyds Bear Country. Ive never seen so many stuffed bears. Karol and Jean bought a bear. It was a nice place out in the country.

We then we came back to camp and Karol had to do some washing. Off to Lancaster tomorrow

Jul 21st, 2008

Artillery Ridge Campground

Well we got here in fine style. Got all setup and then we were going to eat outside and it started to sprinkle, so we ate in our trailer. We had some Lasagna and french bread. It started to pour as we ate, so we lucked out by getting inside. We are camping near the horse stables. Most of them have left. There really isn't any smell, but there are a few flies.

Jul 19th, 2008

New York City

What an experience that was going into NYC. We caught the train at Herreman, New York. We left in the morning and went to Hoboken, NJ. We then caught the "Path" better known as the subway. First time on one. We to it to the 33rd st terminal. Then we went over and checked out Madison Square Garden. We then walked up to Times Square. It was smaller than I figured it would be.

We then got tickets to ride the double decker bus. It was a lot easier than walking. You could hop on an off. We checked out "Ground Zero", but couldn't really see anything. They have a big fence around it. So we ate a deli across the street. What a sandwich that was. I had a brisket, Karol ham and cheese I forgot what Larry and Jean. There was so much meat on them that it was almost hard to eat all.

We then went back on the bus and went to Central Park. I may not have what we saw in order, because there was so much to see that it was hard to remember. LOL  The park was pretty crowded. A lot of people laying out trying to get some tan. It was different.

We then went to Rockefeller  Center. Its where they have the Big Christmas tree and where people Ice Skate. It is a restaurant in the summer.

I will put some pictures in for now and some more later.

Rode the bus around some. We had two buses that went bad on us. One over heated and the other lost a wheel cylinder.

Saw the Empire State Building, NBC studios where people are alway out in front on the Today show. Went by ABC where the view is done and etc.

They really dint have a garment district anymore. Most all work and etc. went over sea's.

You really have to go there to appreciate all of the stuff they have to do there .

We finally got back to Hoboken, but was two and half hrs early. So we went over to the park and waited there for a while. It was a little cooler there. Not much though. Very hot and humid. We finally made it back to the trailer around 11. Got a little lost coming home, so brought out the GPS like I should have in the first place. Well here we are, finally home. Here is a picture foe Empire State Building  shot from Hoboken, NJ

Jul 18th, 2008

Black Bear Campground, Florida New York

Well we got here at the campground about 1:30. We are all setup and ready to go. We are going to kick back today and get on the train around 9 something in the morning and head for New York City. I will have more tomorrow when we get back.

Jul 17th, 2008

Cape Cod and Plymouth Rock

Well we just got back from Cape Cod and Plymouth rock. The cape is a beautiful place. The water looks like its doesn't have much pollution in it. Its only about 30 miles from where we camped here in Mansfield. They were working on the rock. Its just a small piece of rock in the ground. Not much to really look at. At least we can say that we got to see it. I will post pictures tomorrow. We have to get to bed early, so we can leave for New York. We are staying in a campground about an hr out of NY. Its actually in Florida, New York. Will do more tomorrow night. They said that they have WIFI.

Jul 16th, 2008

Boston, Mass

Well we finally made it to Mansfield, Mass to a campground, where we setup camp. The next day the campground had a limo and took us to the train station. A 1989 Lincoln . It was all stretched and sure ran good. We caught the train this morning about 9:02. It was only 13.50 for round trip ticket. Sure a lot easier than driving in and trying to get around town. Larry did it a few years ago and it was a nightmare. We arrived about 40 minutes later. Then we got a all day trolley ticket , where you can get off and on when you want. We went and saw Paul Revere's house. We didn't go in. We then took in the North Church. You know where he was up in the steeple. One if by land , two if by sea.  We walked some, but not to much.

We then went and toured "Old Ironsides" . It is still and active ship with regular navy personnel on it. They are refurbishing  some of the ship. It will be ready to go out to sea by itself in 2010. They still go out , but with a tugboat to help it. They went out on the fourth and did a 21 gun salute.

Well here are some pitures. We cant put them all in.  One of the Boston Skyline, Old North Church, and Paul Revere's house.  Tomorrow going to Newport News instead of Cape Cod. Going to drive. Its not all that far. I guess there is a lot traffic, but what the heck.

Jul 16th, 2008

Lockport, New York

What an interesting place this is. We came here after we left Niagra Falls. We stayed in the Indian Creek campground. Rained off and on. Was humid and then cleared up. It was a nice rain though. We went and took an Erie Canal river boat through the locks. It was great. Karol got some good video, but wont be able to post it. I took some pictures , but lost them with the Niagra Falls one's. Oh well .  Larry I think has some, so when we get them from him we will post them. Stayed for two days. Well we left here and went on to Mansfield, Mass
